Happy Thanksgiving Continued

As we enjoy this day of spending time with family and friends, lets not forget that we have a lot to be thankful for.

I would like to share what I am thankful for:

Have God In My Life
I Am Healthy
My Wonderful, Loving Wife
My Family
My Friends
My Job (Big Thanks)

Hope all of you have a great Thanksgiving weekend. Hope your football teams win whether it be NCAA or NFL.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Sorry it has been a long time since I have posted anything. It was a busy weekend getting settled. The cable got connected, the mattress showed up, and then the delivery guys from Best Buy showed up to attempt to deliver the washer and dryer. The BB guys were nice enough to come in and make sure everything was going to fit since it is an apartment. Luckily they did because what we had ordered wasn't going to work. So we refused delivery and had to go find another set that would fit. We were fortunate to find one and have it delivered the next day. All we need now is some type of couch because we are sitting in camping chairs to eat and watch TV and it isn't working (That is our task for this weekend).

We are getting familiar with what is around us (i.e. Wal-Mart, Target, Kohls, Chick-Fil-A). We have even found Redboxes to rent cheap movies (as we sit in the uncomfortable camping chairs).

Work is going good for me. I have met a lot of people and I am learning new things daily. The commute is nice but that will probably change next week when everybody goes back to work and school from the Thanksgiving holiday.

Speaking of the Thanksgiving Holiday, Tina and I wanted to wish all of you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving. Whether you watch football, the Macy's Parade or just hang out with family, just have fun and think about the many things you are thankful for.

A New Favorite Treat

With our traveling back and forth from Houston to Dallas to prepare for this transition, we have located a new stopping point along the way. There is a bakery called Collin Street Bakery that is located in Corsicana. They are known for their World Famous Fruitcakes. The original location of this bakery is in Downtown Corsicana, but this location is right off of I-45. We have stopped there each way for some cookies to get us through our travels. We were brave enough to sample some fruitcake during this last trip but have come to the realization that the fruitcake is not our thing.

A reply to the comment about not becoming a Cowboy fan. That will be kind of hard not to because I like watching football on Sundays and that is obviously the team they will be showing. Maybe I will be lucky and catch some Denver Broncos games in place of the Houston Texans games. Speaking of the NFL, I have come up with some questions for all of you football fans out there:

Will Gary Kubiak be the Houston Texans coach next year?
Will the Tennessee Titans remain undefeated throughout the whole season?
Will Wade Phillips be the Cowboys coach next year if they don't make the playoffs this year?
Will Kurt Warner and the Arizona Cardinals go to the Super Bowl?
Will the Detroit Lions win a game this year?
Will Brett Favre retire after this year?

Dallas, Here We Come!!

Well after being laid off for two and a half months, I have accepted a job in Dallas. My first day is Monday November 24th. This will be a little different for Tina and I because we are both from Houston and all of our family and friends are here in Houston. This is why we have jumped on the "Blog" wagon and want to keep in touch with everybody. Family and friends are very important to both of us.

This was a hard decision for both of us, but we feel that God has provided this job and we must answer. We ask that you continue to pray for us and we will do the same for you. It is prayer that gets us through the many storms of life that we go through. I would like to ask that when you also pray, pray for all that are unemployed. While I was attending a job support group weekly, I got to hear stories much worse than what I was going through. It is hard being unemployed for any length. I was bitter after I got laid off. Through former co-workers, the members of our small group, and my loving wife I was able to change my attitude and feelings.
One verse that got me through this period of unemployment was Jeremiah 29:11.

For I know the plans I have for you declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

If anybody has any suggestions for things to do or restaurants to eat at in Dallas, we would greatly appreciate it.

We will do our best to keep this as current as we can. The next few weeks are going to be busy for us as we get situated in Dallas. Please be patient as we are new to this whole blogging concept.
