Cabin Fever
So this is the 3rd day off from school and school is closed again for tomorrow. I have been held up at home all week because I took Monday off as well since we just moved and I wanted an extra day to get everything squared away. (Pics to come of the new place) What a waste of PTO! If only I knew that school would be closed for the rest of the week, I wouldn't have requested Monday off. Anyway the other night we went out and braved the icy roads for fajita Wednesday and Jon's birthday dinner. It was a white knuckle ride but I drove of course because I like to be in control. I was pretty impressed with myself and Jon said I did a great job. After driving on the icy roads, I feel like I am better at that than walking on the icy sidewalk. Everyday walking the dog I have slipped and nearly come to my rear but today I ate it. Slipped and fell right on the not so cushioned cushion with really a lot of cushion. Who am I kidding? Later, Jon called and said they shut the office down early and I said I want to go out and play at the school across the street because they have a few slopes. Yippee! Two hours later due to bus shortage and road conditions Jon finally made it home. Luckily the school had the lights on. Below are some pics from the last couple of days and two videos of what happens when they let teachers out of school for too long. Enjoy!

Happy New Year 2011
Hope every one's year is off to a great start.
We just wanted to update everyone on how things have been going since our last official posting (Rangers Post doesn't count). I did not realize how long its been. Resolution for 2011 try to post more often. After many months of trying to find a teaching job, Tina was offered a position as a Computer Aide in the Frisco school district. We were super excited about her getting a job and possibly settling down and buying a house. Then in November, I was laid off due to workload. It always seems that just when things are going good for us, something happens to slow us down.
We went down to Houston during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays to spend time with family. It is always great to hang out and see family.
2011 has been great for us so far. I started a new job this past Monday and I am very excited about this new opportunity. We are finally moving into a bigger apartment at the end of this month so that we can have more space. We will be going from a one bedroom/efficiency that we have "temporarily" lived in for 2 years to a two bedroom with an actual place to put a table and chairs to eat at. Tina is very excited about getting a room just for sewing and embroidery.
As we sit here typing this post, we are currently getting our first snow of 2011. We are forecasted to get up to four inches. Last February we got spoiled when we got 12 inches of snow, but we will take snow when we can. Scooter loves the snow too.
Here are a couple of pictures of what we have been up to:
Painting class was so much fun. I think we are pretty good?
Tina's computer lab
The apple orchard was pretty cool.
Had a good time at the TX state Fair
Went out looking at Christmas lights and found the Griswold's.
Merry Christmas! Yes those are plastic yard chairs indoors and we are using Fall plastic tablecloths. Thats how we roll.

Our Trip To Destin
Well we are making up for a few months with no blog posts. Here is a picture recap of our trip to Destin. We had so much fun playing and relaxing with my mom, dad, and brother (Travis).
Home away from home. This place was perfect for vacationing with family. Three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. Enough said!Yeah, We're here!
Day 1: Surfing or shall we say attempting to surf. I really need to get in shape! After paddling out and falling off a few times I was spent. Here I am muscling up the surf board.
I really miss going for bike rides. We rode all around.
Day 2: Sailing and snorkeling
If you know Jon, you know he is terrified of the water. And if you didn't already know he married a water loving girl. Well long time ago in our dating years our first occurrence with water was a work function called the Buffalo bayou regatta. It was a kayaking adventure down Buffalo bayou and started with "I don't know how to swim" and somewhere in the middle flipping the kayak over because a tree was down across the bayou and the water forced us under water under the log and out the other side. Well, that just made everything better. Yeah right! Side note: The regatta was for Jon's company and going was his idea. I am telling you this because all prior vacations and water events have come with exchanged looks, words, tension, etc. I am so proud of Jon. He is a trooper and enjoyed all the water things we did without any hesitation. Sometimes I think he forgot that we were in the middle of the ocean.
Day 3: Deep sea fishing
Day 3: Deep sea fishing
What do you know? Jon is not hanging on to the boat. I don't think the first mate realizes he asked the most scared person to help string the fishing poles. By the way, this was the only time my mom was smiling on the boat.
Everyone caught several fish except my mom. She could not bring herself to move after getting nauseous.
Fun when you are catching fish, sucks when your hanging off the side puking. Although I had a great time, minus getting sick, I don't think I will ever do it again. All the motion did not quite go well with me and I even had one of those patch things.
My brother with one of his catches. Thanks for baiting my hooks bro.
Can you believe Jon caught the biggest fish?
Me, dad, Travis
The loot. Yes, there is a pile of fish on the floor between us.
Scooter goes to the beach.
Day 4: Driving range and then hello golf course.
Good follow through or mad photo skills?
